Unique Experiences to be Auctioned at Biscuits & Bubbly

Guests at the Second Annual Biscuits & Bubbly can bid on SEVEN unique experiences during our live auction on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at The Standard. Proceeds from the  auction benefit the East Tennessee Historical Society.

EXPERIENCES TO BE AUCTIONED

At a themed dinner party for eight, you and your guests will assume the identities of murder suspects. Hosts Tyler Janow and Anthony Wilson will help you choose your theme from a variety of scenarios (e.g. Murder on the High Seas. Murder on the Night Train) and help you plan food and beverages for a memorable evening. At the dinner, guests will work together to solve the mystery. Costumes encouraged! Becky Hancock, Executive Director of the Tennessee Theatre, will give eight guests a tour of the Tennessee Theatre’s expansion space at 612 S. Gay Street, two doors down from the historic theatre. In addition to getting a behind-the-scenes look at the $19 million project, you’ll enjoy beer, wine, and appetizers at the theatre hosted by the Biscuits & Bubbly Planning Team. After the project is completed, you’ll be among the first to see the transformation at a cocktail party in the renovated building’s elegant reception space. During your first visit to 612 S Gay Street, it will be a construction site. Low-heel, closed toe shoes are highly recommended, and hard hats and safety glasses may be required. Enjoy four nights for up to six people at a beautiful four bedroom/four bath condo at Conchas Chinas, the best beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, spacious closet, and individual AC control. The 3.400 square foot corner features incredible Pacific Ocean views, a full kitchen, large dining areas, fast Wifi, spa-grade bath amenities, multiple TVs, a full washer & dryer, and retractable doors for indoor/outdoor living. Storyteller Laura Still of Knoxville Walking Tours will give 8 guests a lively behind-the-scenes look at Gay Street’s history. You’ll hear the stories of pioneers, soldiers, outlaws, heroes, and fictional characters who walked Gay Street before you. You’ll start with beer, wine, and appetizers at the East Tennessee History Center and continue the crawl at three surprise locations along the way. Gather on the sprawling front porch and sip up the story of Miss Evelyn Hazen for an unforgettable evening at one of Knoxville’s most fascinating and dramatic historic house museums–Mabry-Hazen House. Take yourself back in time to watch the sun set behind downtown and see the city flicker alight panoramic views atop Mabry’s Hill while enjoying an elegant cocktail buffet for eight prepared by Gay Lyons and Kelley Weatherly-Sinclair. You’ll be joined by Patrick Hollis, Executive Director of Mabry-Hazen House, to hear the ill-fated love affair of Evelyn Hazen and her scandalous 1934 heart balm suit and other colorful stories of the Mabry-Hazen family. You’ll marvel at the transformation of a mid-century modern rancher to an Italian villa along the banks of the Tennessee River on Lyons Bend at the home and studio of John Woodrow Kelley, an artist specializing in portraits and figures from Greek mythology. Hosts David Butler, Eden Bishop, and Gay Lyons will prepare a tasting table for eight guests of Greek and Italian foods and wines fit for the gods.
