Ancient Tattoos in Middle Tennessee

Tennessee State Museum
Event Location:
Tennessee State Museum
Thursday, November 16, 2017 - 12:15pm to 1:00pm

Come learn about tattooed mummies, ancient art, bone tools, and more at this month’s Lunch and Learn at the Tennessee State Museum on Thursday, November 16, at 12:15 p.m. For the past decade Aaron Deter-Wolf, archaeologist at the Tennessee Division of Archaeology, has been researching the archaeological evidence for ancient tattooing in Tennessee and beyond. His recent reexamination of a collection of prehistoric artifacts excavated from Middle Tennessee revealed some surprising new discoveries. He’ll be telling us about these as our featured speaker.

Our Lunch & Learn series is just what it says — a chance for participants to eat lunch while learning something about Tennessee history at the same time. Whether you bring your lunch in a brown bag or grab a sandwich from a nearby shop, bring it to the museum and enjoy an interesting talk while you eat. The event will last about 30 minutes.

All of the programs are FREE to the public and will take place on Level B of the State Museum in front of the stage.
