Preserving the Past for the Future: The Momentous Conservation Project for the New Tennessee State Museum

Tennessee State Museum
Event Location:
Tennessee State Museum 505 Deaderick Street Nashville, TN 37243-1120
When:
Thursday, December 14, 2017 - 12:15pm

A lecture entitled: Preserving the Past for the Future: The Momentous Conservation Project for the New Tennessee State Museum, will be presented at the Tennessee State Museu. The lecture is about the sometimes long and involved procedures of getting artifacts ready for the move to the the new Tennessee State Museum. As conservator Mark Bynon will explain, it’s not as simple as packing them in tissue and sticking them in a box. Bynon, owner and CEO of Bynon Art Services, will describe the process, and some of the more interesting discoveries his group has made.
The Lunch & Learn series is just what it says — a chance for participants to eat lunch while learning something about Tennessee history at the same time. Whether you bring your lunch in a brown bag or grab a sandwich from a nearby shop, bring it to the museum and enjoy an interesting talk while you eat. The event will last about 30 minutes. All of the programs are FREE to the public and will take place on Level B of the State Museum in front of the stage.
