Enriching Joe’s personal interest is the fact that he owns “Betsy,” David Crockett’s rifle which is on loan to the East Tennessee Historical Society. Ownership of the rifle has descended in his family since the early nineteenth century; a fact that makes this lifelong journey even more special and important.
