Descriptiona) Fragment of quilt believed made by Jane Smith for the marriage of her daughter Mary Jane to Dr. Robert Nicholson Fleming in 1843, pieced eight-pointed star pattern, star done in small triangles of pink print/light blue/white/green with white cotton background, sewn to cream cotton duck, solid sectons quilte in flower pattern with hearts quilted at inner points, 22 3/4"h x 22 1/2"w, first half of 19th century. b) Medium-brown unglazed contemporary frame, 34 1/4"h x 34 1/4"w. NOTE: provenance written by family member Ed Wattenbarger (Dec. 1990) removed from reverse and placed in donor file.
